Lotte Museum of Art | The Art of Jewelry

The Art of Jewellery was a major jewelry exhibition held at the Lotte Museum of Art in Seoul from December 6, 2024 to March 16, 2025, showcasing a rare and expansive collection of historical jewels. It presented 208 pieces from the private collection of Japanese collector Kazumi Arikawa, founder of Albion Art, drawn from over 40 years of collecting and spanning nearly 5,000 years of jewelry history — from ancient Greek gold earrings to Renaissance masterpieces and 19th-century royal jewels.

The exhibition was organized into multiple thematic sections covering periods such as the ancient and medieval eras, Renaissance, European 17th–18th century works, the Neoclassical and Art Nouveau periods, and iconic 20th-century designs, allowing visitors to explore how jewelry reflected political, economic and artistic trends over time. A highlight was “Cross of Christ and the Evangelists” by Valerio Belli, one of only three surviving examples worldwide and said to contain a fragment of the True Cross.

Designed to emphasize both the artistic and historical value of the pieces, the exhibition was noted for being the first large-scale public presentation of Arikawa’s private collection at a modern art institution, bringing together masterpieces that had rarely been seen outside major museum contexts.
