A Vertical Approach to Food & Wine Storytelling: Clarendelle at JW Marriott Seoul

5/07/2026

Moktan Productions partnered with Clarendelle, a globally recognized French wine house, to produce a social-first promotional film centered on the relationship between food and wine at JW Marriott Seoul’s Margaux Grill. Designed for digital platforms, the project focuses on how thoughtful pairings can elevate the overall dining experience within a refined restaurant setting.

Filming at The Margaux Grill

The production took place at The Margaux Grill, a premium dining space known for its modern interior and carefully curated atmosphere. The location provided a strong visual foundation for the film, allowing the team to capture not only the food and wine, but also the architectural and spatial elements that define the restaurant’s identity.

From plated dishes to wine service and ambient details, the shoot emphasized a balance between culinary presentation and environmental storytelling.

Interview-Driven Narrative

At the center of the film is Head Sommelier Kim Duk-joo, whose perspective shapes the narrative through an interview-led approach. His insights into pairing wine with specific dishes provide both structure and depth, grounding the visual elements in professional expertise.

The interview was designed to feel natural and unobtrusive, while maintaining a clean, polished look that aligns with Clarendelle’s brand identity.

Designed for Vertical Viewing

A key aspect of the project was its vertical format, developed specifically for social and mobile-first platforms. This approach influenced both framing and shot composition, requiring careful consideration of how food, wine, and space are presented within a tighter aspect ratio.

The result is a format that feels native to digital viewing while still maintaining a cinematic and refined visual quality.

Visual Coverage and Production Approach

The shoot combined interview footage with detailed b-roll, including close-ups of dishes, wine pouring, and service moments, as well as wider shots capturing the restaurant’s interior and design.

Moktan handled all on-set video production, focusing on principal photography and supporting the overall visual direction of the project. The team worked to ensure efficient execution on location, aligning with the needs of an international brand shoot while maintaining a consistent visual standard.

This project reflects Moktan Productions’ ability to support branded content that operates at the intersection of hospitality, lifestyle, and visual storytelling.
