The Project | Korean Adoption Story
In the decades after the Korean War, South Korea became a major source of intercountry adoptions. A recent investigation by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission uncovered widespread irregularities, including falsified records and adoptions conducted without proper parental consent. Korean-born Australian adoptee Kimberley Lee later discovered her own case may have been affected, prompting a public reckoning with identity and origin.
Produced for Network 10, the project followed Kimberley’s return to South Korea as she searched for answers, situating her personal journey within a broader national reassessment of past adoption practices.
